DESIGN INTERNSHIP - SPRING 2025
 

[Spring 2025 Internship has been FILLED.] 

Preference given to junior, senior, or graduate level interior design or architecture students, and non-student applicants of 3+ years relevant work experience in interiors, architecture, or a construction related field.

Strong CAD proficiency is required.

The spring internship program runs January to May.  A minimum of 12 hours a week is required in order to provide a quality learning experience.  Our office hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday (9 AM - 4 PM).  

Interns will gain experience in construction design, soft furnishings, design installations, project coordination, interior design marketing, photoshoot styling, and the behind the scenes daily tasks of running an interior design studio.

Internship is a paid internship and ON LOCATION at the Tera Janelle Design studio, located in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Accepting applications for an experienced Interior Designer or Architect.

 

Job Role:​​
 

  • Develop detailed interior architecture related drawings, including floor plans, electrical plans, and custom cabinetry and millwork designs.

  • Collaborate with Principal Designer on project design concepts and development.

  • Generate highly organized and detailed project specification sheets.

  • Draw, review, and annotate construction and shop drawings.

  • Collaborate with construction teams to ensure accurate implementation of design plans.

  • Communicate with clients, contractors, design team, and trades to support an environment of high-level collaboration, dedication, timely communication, and creative problem solving.

  • Support project management tasks, including budgeting, receiving, procurement tracking, and scheduling.

  • Engage in training, markets, and learning opportunities to foster continuing growth in interior design and relevant technologies.

Required Qualifications
 

  • Degree in Interior Design and/or Architecture from an accredited program (preferred).

  • Minimum of 3-years proven work experience in a professional role within the industry.

  • High level of proficiency in AutoCAD and Google Suite.

  • Self motivated, positive attitude, and proactive.

  • Proven excellence in collaborating with construction teams to ensure accurate implementation of design plans.

  • Experience with residential custom furniture, fabrics, and finishes.

Position is 25 - 30 hours a week, with standard working hours of Monday, Wednesday & Thursday (8:30 AM - 4:00 PM), with additional hours available based on project loads and installation schedules. 

 

Position is ON LOCATION at the Tera Janelle Design studio located in Lynchburg, Virginia. Pay based on experience.
